My Joshua flew in from Washington this week to say hello… and to be the best man in his best friends wedding…
It’s been a busy week full of travel, long awaited conversations with old friends, and large family gatherings. We had a date day planned for Saturday and though I love spending time with other loved ones, I was really looking forward to some one-on-one time. So that afternoon when his buddy called and asked for some help moving a tractor, I wasn’t thrilled with the idea. Instead of whatever he had had planned, the two of us rode on a tractor meant for one down long miles of dirt rode.
It was a beautiful day, and in the end, I really did enjoy myself. We stopped at his uncle’s field and parked near an old apple tree he and his dad used to hunt from. Under the tree, there just happened to be a cooler with soup and coffee waiting. At that point, I sensed what was coming, so when he started talking all gushy, I began preparing my answer. I had something witty in mind, but all I managed in the end was a “yes” and a kiss. We pulled a ladder out from beneath the apple tree, set my camera on the most stable step, hit the timer and ran. What better time to do engagement photos than minutes after the engagement?
And then he let me drive the tractor the rest of the way home. It was quite the adventure! He leaves in a couple days, but we already have our plane tickets for the holidays. Here goes nothing…
